How To Drive A golf Ball Straight: Avoid The Tendency To Re-route Your Club During Your Swimg

best golf swing lessonsThe easiest way to learn how to drive a golf ball straight is to establish a square alignment and an on line swing path of the club face during the setup proceedings.

On the other hand, one of the most difficult ways to learn how to drive a golf ball straight is attempting to re-route the club face to a square alignment and an on line swing path of the club face during the golf swing.

Yet we continue to hear golf swing instructions that recommend us to re-route the club face to a square alignment during the golf swing, such as was addressed in a recent article:

“So just what is re-routing your swing? Well, it depends on what style of swing the golfer is most comfortable with but the basic idea is to change the route of your club while in the backswing on through into the downswing of the shot. What this routing change in your swing is meant to accomplish is give the golfer a better feel for just where the head of the club is during the swing.” Read more…onlinegolfswingtips.com/golf-swing-tips-for-accuracy/#comment-642 ball back of the.

In all due respect to the author of this article, I believe the better approach to hitting straight golf shots is to establish a square alignment and an on line swing path of the club face at final address to the ball with the sweet spot of the club face centered as near as possible to the back of the ball.

If you establish a square club face and an on line swing path of the club face at the completion of your setup routine and, have the sweet spot of your club face centered as near as possible to the back of your ball at the beginning of your back swing, there is no need or reason to re- route your club during your swing in an attempt to deliver a square club face to your ball at impact.

Indeed, any attempt to re-route your club face in such an instance would only cause the club face to be misaligned at impact.

I realize that some of the greatest golfers have re-routed their clubs during their swings but it took years of practice and zillions of practice ball to “feel” precisely the club head during their swing and then to deliver their club face to the ball at impact in a precise manner in order to contact their ball squarely.

Most recreational and weekend golfers do not have the time or patience to acquire such skills.

Most would be better served by getting everything right at final address when learning how to drive a golf ball straight.
